The legal part

What a proprietary blend is, and what it is not

This is the part of the label most worth understanding, because it decides how much of the rest you can trust.

What a proprietary blend is

A lawful way to declare a group of ingredients as one combined weight. The manufacturer must name every ingredient in the blend, list them in descending order by weight, and print the total. It does not have to print what each one weighs.

What a proprietary blend is not

It is not a mark of a special formula and it is not a quality signal in either direction. It removes exactly one thing: the number you would use to compare this bottle with a study, or with the bottle beside it.

What it means for this bottle

Nine ingredients share 1000 mg. The average share is about 111 mg. Four of the nine are individually studied at as much as the whole blend weighs or more, so most of them would have to be below a studied amount. We say would have to be rather than are, because the label does not publish the split and we are not going to invent it.

Under US law a dietary supplement is not reviewed or approved before it goes on sale. The manufacturer is responsible for the label being truthful, and the FDA acts afterwards if it is not. The FDA’s own questions and answers on dietary supplements sets this out in plain language, and it is ten minutes well spent before you buy anything in this category, including this.

The arithmetic

Why 1,000 mg across nine names matters

The blend total is the one quantity on this panel, so it is worth doing the division the panel is designed to discourage.

One thousand milligrams divided nine ways is an average of about 111 mg each. Nobody is claiming the split is even, and it almost certainly is not. The point of the average is that it sets the scale. Cinnamon research starts at 1,000 mg a day. Bitter melon research starts at 2,000 mg a day. Garcinia trials run 1,500 to 2,800 mg a day. L-lysine work runs 1,000 to 3,000 mg a day. Each of those four numbers is equal to or larger than the entire blend, before the other ingredients take any of it.

The one ingredient whose studied range fits comfortably inside 1,000 mg is tongkat ali, at roughly 200 to 400 mg a day. That is a men’s vitality ingredient on a product sold for blood health, and it is the kind of detail that makes the blend name on the back harder to dismiss as a typographical accident. We cannot tell you the split. We can tell you which ingredient the budget could actually accommodate.

What we are not saying

We are not saying this blend is underdosed, because that would be a claim about numbers nobody outside the manufacturer has. We are saying that most of these ingredients would have to be below a studied amount for the panel to add up, which is a different sentence and a defensible one.

Questions

GlycoMode Supplement Facts panel, transcribed in full — common questions

What does the GlycoMode Supplement Facts panel actually say?

Serving size 2 capsules, 30 servings per container, and one blend line reading Test Boost Proprietary Blend 1000 mg, followed by the nine ingredient names in label order. Other Ingredients are gelatin capsule, rice powder, magnesium stearate vegetable grade.

Why does the back of the bottle say Test Boost?

The blend on the Supplement Facts panel is printed as the Test Boost Proprietary Blend while the front of the bottle says Blood Health Support Capsules. Two of the nine ingredients are men’s vitality ingredients, which is consistent with that title. No explanation has been published, so we print the finding and stop there.

Is a proprietary blend legal?

Yes. It is an ordinary labelling device. Every ingredient has to be named and the total has to be printed; the individual amounts do not. Lawful and uninformative are not opposites.

What is the lot number and where do I find it?

The stock on this site is lot GLY-26/GO-8205, certificate of analysis number GLY-8205-26-GO, best before 07-2028. The lot and the date are stamped on the bottle. Our batch verify page shows where to look.

Can I see the certificate of analysis?

We were given the number, GLY-8205-26-GO, and not the document. Until a third-party certificate is published as a document, it stays on our list of things this label does not show.

Does the panel list a daily value for anything?

No. The panel prints a dagger against the blend line and the words “Daily Value Not Established.” underneath. There is no reference intake for a proprietary blend, so there is no percentage to print.

Is there an allergen or gluten statement?

Not published. The label prints no allergen statement, no gluten claim and no vegetarian claim. The gelatin shell answers the last of those three on its own.
